Intimate Late-Summer Wedding Surrounded by Wildflowers
Wendy and Andrew’s elopement at Iris Aisle was a sweet, summery celebration with their closest family. They wanted a simple and meaningful day, focused on their love and the people closest to them.
They met in high school when they were just teenagers. Andrew had a crush on Wendy, but they remained good friends until 2021 when they decided to date. After years of friendship, they knew they were meant to be together. Andrew is in the Air Force, so they’ve spent much of their relationship long-distance, making the time they do have together even more special. After their wedding, they’ll be moving to Alaska together where Andrew is stationed.
They got ready at their parents’ house before heading to Iris Aisle. Their color palette was inspired by a forest cottage-core aesthetic, keeping things natural with lots of greenery, white, and soft pink. Wendy wore an embroidered white gown, a delicate necklace and earrings, and a floral hairpiece tucked behind her ear. Andrew wore a classic black tuxedo with satin lapels and a black satin bowtie. His floral boutonniere matched Wendy’s bouquet, which featured soft pink and green tones.
Their ceremony took place at midday, surrounded by fifteen family members in the Iris Aisle’s gorgeous bright white Conservatory. The lush tropical plants in the greenhouse made a stunning backdrop for their bilingual Spanish-English ceremony. Their pastor officiated in both languages to ensure all of their family could be fully present in the moment. Right after the ceremony, Wendy’s uncle gifted her and Andrew matching heart pendant necklaces, each holding one half of a heart. They were both overjoyed and put them on immediately, helping each other with the clasps.
For their cake cutting, they incorporated a personal touch by including spicy-sweet candies alongside their wedding cake, a nod to their Hispanic cultures. Instead of a formal reception, they planned a relaxed dinner at their favorite restaurant. Before leaving for dinner, we took photos around the venue, capturing their first moments as a married couple in the beautiful, secluded cedar forest of Iris Aisle.
Wendy and Andrew found me through Raelyn at Iris Aisle, who recommended me knowing I had photographed there many times. Photography was important to them because they wanted to capture the moments they would treasure for the rest of their lives. I always love a chance to shoot a tiny wedding or elopement at Iris Aisle – this place is just paradise for anyone who loves nature.
After I sent off their gallery, I got the sweetest note from Wendy about the photos:
“Yayyy, thank youu so much!! We lovee all the pictures 🥰 Thank you for everything, you are a wonderful photographer ♥️”
