Romantic Editorial Elopement in a Retro Mid-Century Airbnb

Foxcroft Estate, a retro Airbnb decorated with vintage mid-century modern, atomic, '70s, and grandma-core decor in every room, was the perfect backdrop for this dreamy styled editorial elopement shoot with sweethearts Selma & Gerry 🌸.

Every space in the Airbnb had its own unique vibe, from floral wallpaper and handmade quilts to funky tile floors and an actual tiki bar room in the basement. It was a mix of romantic, playful, and editorial, and Selma & Gerry’s looks fit right in. Selma wore a stunning white gown from Modern Dress in Boone, featuring a square neckline, an open square-cut back, and sheer, oversized puff sleeves. She paired it with hot pink pointed-toe slingback heels and carried a massive bouquet of two dozen long-stemmed lavender roses. Gerry kept it classic but cool, wearing his own blue suit jacket and button-down with white pants.

We started in the bathroom, where a clawfoot tub and funky tile floors set the scene for some gorgeous solo portraits of Selma getting ready in the mirror. Next, in the powder room, we found a mid-century Heywood-Wakefield vanity with a round mirror and vintage makeup props—old perfume bottles, compacts, and brushes—which made for some of my favorite detail shots. The pink walls and wallpaper gave everything an extra layer of vintage charm.

For couples portraits, we moved into a yellow bedroom with floral wallpaper, '70s nature photography hanging on the walls, and a handmade quilt on the bed. The warm tones, soft textures, and layered patterns made everything feel cozy but still stylish, and it was the perfect spot for some more playful snuggly photos on the bed.

And of course, we had to take advantage of the basement tiki bar. It felt like stepping into a 70’s island retreat with a perfect mix of laid-back tropical and mid-century retro vibes—light wood paneling, bamboo and rattan furniture, puka shells, macramé, and pink and green tile. The bar itself was colorful, decorated with matchbooks from Hawaii, tropical knickknacks, and potted monstera plants.

I would absolutely love to come back and shoot at Foxcroft Estate again, if you’re dreaming up a mid-century retro session of your own, get in touch!
