Romantic Autumn Rose Garden Elopement in Des Moines

Elisabeth and Quin eloped with only their immediate families at the Clare and Miles Mills Rose Garden in early October, and it could not have been a more beautiful setting for their vows.

I met up with them on the terrace of the Art Nouveau Saarinen wing of the Des Moines Art Center for portraits before their ceremony. The modern architecture made a perfect minimal backdrop at golden hour, and it matched the vibe of Elisabeth’s simple yet chic gown and Quin’s navy blue suit so well.

We walked back to the rose garden together to meet up with their guests—and their two big fluffy pups—before everyone made their way to the center of the little stone courtyard. The rose garden was still in full bloom with roses in every color. The trees around us were turning deep orange and yellow, and everything had a warm golden glow that only happens on perfect a perfect autumn afternoon.

After they exchanged vows and rings, they took some photos with their families before we wandered through Greenwood-Ashworth Park with their dogs, soaking in all the gorgeous fall colors. We wrapped up with a champagne pop out of the trunk of their car, and a toast to the newlyweds!
